How could I not do a cartoon about Representative Todd Akin’s statement about rape? He is running for Senate in Missouri and is backed by the Tea Party. In an interview, he said: “It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”
What? Excuse me, but did I hear him right? “Legitimate rape”–what is illegitimate rape? And, I have lived on this earth for over a century, have two kids and had no idea my uterus is so talented. Wow.

I love it! This guy will use the logic that if a woman gets pregnant, it was an illegitimate rape, which means she wanted sex and it’s all her doing. He’s a creep and we all know it. Betcha he has secrets in his closet too.
