Sand in The Briefs

Is anyone else having trouble working today?  I didn’t go to the beach this past weekend, in fact I didn’t really do anything “summery,” unless you count watching fireworks on television “summery.”  When everyone else is off doing non-work things, I sometimes like to sit at my desk. But I am always aware that they are playing,  putting on sunscreen, drinking fruity alcoholic drinks, grilling slabs of meat, getting sand in their shorts, honking in traffic jams.   No one is emailing, few are tweeting, Facebook is full of party and beach  photos, there’s no snail-mail…it’s QUIET.   Trying to steer the cartoon ship in the right direction is difficult work (go ahead, laugh), and things like holidays make me have to shift gears.

With everyone back at the office today, I adjust my tempo and try to focus in a different way. And draw cartoons about it.

Now that’s my kind of meeting attire – power suits and pretense be gone!
Myself, I would bring a rubber ducky.

I too, work at home, and “enforced” holidays really throw me off rhythm:
I don’t know whether to join the herd, stay home working, or just drink wine.

To answer your question: I have trouble working any day. And after a 3-day
    weekend, I’m really a mess!
