This cartoon was drawn last week, and The New Yorker passed on it. Since I drew it, last night our government has agreed on something, in order to avert something. While I am paying attention, I am at times a bit lost. It’s been a mess, and embarrassing. And I have a feeling no one–neither side– is going to live “happily ever after” down there in Washington.

Has your cartoon mother told her daughter the story about the partisans who were
so concerned about being re-elected, that they shafted the rest of the country?
A very grimm tale indeed. And you’re right, they did not live “happily ever after”.
