Today, I am headed to France for the 30th Salon International du Dessins de Presse et d’Humour at St Just le Martel. I curated an exhibit (slide show sample below) for them of cartoons from around the globe by artists who are women. The artists are: Catherine Beaunez (France), Firoozeh Mozafarri (Iran), Piyale Madra (Turkey), Rasha Mahdi (Egypt), Cathy Wilcox (Australia), Xia Lichuan (China), Marlene Pohl (Germany), Hana Hajjar (Saudi Arabia), Toshiko Nishida (Japan), Caro (Switzerland), Ana on Rebeur (Argentina), Cinta Bolio (Mexico), Ann Telnaes (USA), and myself. Below is a sample of some of their work in the show.
It will be a short visit, but in the three days I will be there, I will see many cartoonists–men and women–from around the world, some of whom have become good friends. It’s a wonderful festival put on by the mayor, Gerard Vandenbrouke, his staff and the whole village. They are celebrating the opening of their new building this year. I will be posting more after I return on Monday.
Enjoy my country! I love your work!
Thank you! I did, always do. Love France.
